Fourth of July 2015

As always, I'm playing catch-up on this old blog, so it's finally time to post our pictures from the Fourth of July. In years past, we have traveled to Port O'Connor for the Fourth, and last year we had a newborn, so this was really our first time to celebrate the holiday in Dallas.

Josh and I both had off work on that Friday, so we joined some friends for a pool party in the burbs.

We enjoyed a fabulous potluck meal (not pictured: a huge batch of s'mores bars).

After we were sufficiently stuffed, the group headed to see the Coppell fireworks. The festivities were held in a cute park, and the crowd wasn't overwhelming (unlike the million plus expected at Kaboom Town…no thanks).

I thought for sure Rylan would fall asleep on the way there or at least in the stroller once we arrived (he typically goes to sleep at 7:00), but he was all over the place until right before the fireworks started around 9:30.

And Ava was running on a lovely sugar-high after this sno cone.

Ava was totally in awe of her first fireworks show.

It was a long day, and of course the kids didn't sleep in the next morning, but so worth it.

On Saturday, we joined the Leos family at the Lakewood parade, and I felt like we were in some small American town.

Ava and Ollie quickly became candy-catching experts.

And her pockets came in quite handy.

The parade was the perfect way to spend our holiday morning.

We rounded out the holiday fun with some firework fork art (and a BBQ dinner at the Ratliff's…but I didn't manage to take any pics).
