To celebrate our 10th anniversary, Josh and I took a trip to Cabo that can only be described as absolutely magical.
We went the Saturday-Wednesday of Thanksgiving week, which worked out perfectly. But there were lots of logistics involved to make it work, including my mom taking the Vonlane bus up to Dallas so she could drive the kids down in my car. We also woke up suuuuuper early to get to our flight, but it was so worth it. And the short, direct flight from Dallas can't be beat.
Neither of us had ever been to Cabo, and from start to finish, we absolutely loved it. Also, due to the fact that we went directly from the airport to our resort via a private car and never left the property, we felt completely safe the entire time.
When we stepped outside the airport doors in Cabo, there was a huge bar serving all kinds of beachy beverages. So we picked up some for the road and met our driver.
After lots of research and recommendations, we decided on Esperanza for our stay in Cabo. It was definitely a splurge, but worth every penny! (And we booked when they were having a "buy three nights, get the fourth free" deal.)
I truly can't say enough wonderful things about the resort. The suites and grounds were stunning, the meals were all delicious, and the service was impeccable. And the entire place smelled amazing...it was an intoxicating mix of ocean air, food being cooked on a wood-fired oven, and some sort of magical vanilla/lime scent. It was pure heaven.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by our personal concierge (#SoBougie), who offered us fresh pineapple cocktails and took us on a tour of the property.
In honor of our anniversary, our room was stocked with champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries, and a rose-covered bed. (At every dinner, we were also treated to either a glass of champagne or a special dessert.)

I snapped a few photos of the room, which in no way do it justice. It was beautiful, comfortable, and filled with so many fun little details, including the candles that were lit every night on the patio.
The best part by far was the patio and infinity hot tub. It was the perfect place to read whilst drinking coffee or champagne, take an afternoon siesta, smoke a cigar, and hang out after dinner.
And our view was absolutely breathtaking.
The resort included three private beach coves, numerous pools (including two adult-only), several restaurants, two little shops, and a spa/gym. Not to mention all the flora, walking trails, and other gorgeous spots at Esperanza.
I mean, it doesn't get much better than this...
Our meals (and drinks) were all delicious. In true Cabo fashion, we had our fill of margaritas, fresh seafood, chips & guac, tacos, and lots of other amazing dishes made with locally sourced ingredients.
The best part was definitely the breakfast at Cocina del Mar. It was included with the purchase of our room, and was served until 11am, so basically we ate an amazing brunch every day. And it was the most legit brunch spread I've ever encountered.
Also, the restaurant views couldn't be beat.
Due to our relatively short stay, safety concerns in Mexico, and the fact that we just wanted a super-relaxing vacation, we planned absolutely zero excursions/activities. Instead, we ate, drank, read, pooled, talked without kids interrupting, napped, hung on the patio, hot tubbed, walked on the beach, collected shells, and spotted whales. And it was perfection.
It was the most unbelievable vacation, and I am already dreaming of our next visit.
