Rylan's Third Birthday Party

We celebrated Rylan's third birthday at Ridgewood Sprayground just like last year. It is such a great venue for a preschool-age summer birthday party, and the repeat location made for easy planning during a hectic month. And this year, we knew to reserve the first slot in the morning so there wouldn't be anyone already staking a claim to tables in the pavilion.

We kept the same menu and decorations as last year, minus the dinosaurs, and I found these great sand toy sets at Party City for the favors. We also got a bunch of balloons, but much to Rylan's dismay, they all flew away as we were setting up. Blerg.

We had such a wonderful group of friends and family in attendance.

Shout-out to Emily of Rockstar Bakeshop for the adorable (and delicious) cupcakes!

(The side-eye Kate is giving in this picture is epic.)

Despite the balloon fiasco, the fact that Rylan was a bit (understatement) fussy during most of the party, and me not feeling well at all (stomach/back pain that ended up sending me to the ER a couple days later), we still had fun celebrating our little man in a very real-life, non-Pinterest kind of way.

And I still can't believe he is THREE!

About Me

My name is Catherine, but most of my friends call me Cat. I was born and raised in Austin, went to TCU, and ended up in Dallas for law school (where Josh and I met). I decided that being an attorney was not my cup of tea and pursued a career in legal marketing. I am now a mother of two attempting to balance family with a full-time job, which is always an adventure. I love: my sweet babies, handsome husband, very large family, and fabulous friends; trying new restaurants; wine; TCU football; holidays; cooking; The Bar Method; pajamas; Topo Chico; reading; coffee; Central Market; carbs; the beach; mani/pedis; Anthropologie; binge-worthy TV shows and podcasts; trivia; French 75s; Pinterest; cheese boards; The Ticket; dancing; Sprinkles cupcakes; The Texas Rangers; fresh flowers; thunderstorms; naps; Tex-Mex; the Texas Hill Country; porch-sitting; ranch dressing; throwing parties; and my job. I hate: working-mom guilt; snakes; heights; waking up early; ignorant people; stomach bugs; paper cuts; green fruit; snoring; bad hair days; the sound of people eating (Misophonia); scary movies; bad drivers; pulpy OJ; trimming baby fingernails; and Miracle Whip. That pretty much sums it up.
