Weekend Fun | Gin Blossoms + Sunday Cookout

This past weekend was busy and super fun!

Josh and I kicked off the weekend with a hot date in the Bishop Arts District. We started the night with a fantastic dinner at Tillman's Roadhouse. And we ate so...much…food. Beginning with the delicious trio of fries appetizer.

After dinner, we headed to the Kessler Theatre to see the Gin Blossoms.

It was our first time to visit the Kessler, which is such a cool venue. As a former movie theatre built in the 1940s, it offers a vintage vibe as well as an intimate setting.

There is not a bad seat in the house.

The Gin Blossoms put on an excellent show, and they played all their classic songs, including "Hey Jealousy"…

It was a total 90s flashback.

And it made for a wonderful date night.

Thanks so much to Aunt Hannah for babysitting! She made sure to send pictures and videos to the rest of the family to make them jealous of her time with Ava…

After a productive Saturday complete with swim class and prepping the guest room for its transition into Ava's big girl room, we continued the fun on Sunday with a little potluck-cookout at our house.

Luckily the weather cooperated, so we were able to spend plenty of time playing outside.

We should really do this every weekend :).

About Me

My name is Catherine, but most of my friends call me Cat. I was born and raised in Austin, went to TCU, and ended up in Dallas for law school (where Josh and I met). I decided that being an attorney was not my cup of tea and pursued a career in legal marketing. I am now a mother of two attempting to balance family with a full-time job, which is always an adventure. I love: my sweet babies, handsome husband, very large family, and fabulous friends; trying new restaurants; wine; TCU football; holidays; cooking; The Bar Method; pajamas; Topo Chico; reading; coffee; Central Market; carbs; the beach; mani/pedis; Anthropologie; binge-worthy TV shows and podcasts; trivia; French 75s; Pinterest; cheese boards; The Ticket; dancing; Sprinkles cupcakes; The Texas Rangers; fresh flowers; thunderstorms; naps; Tex-Mex; the Texas Hill Country; porch-sitting; ranch dressing; throwing parties; and my job. I hate: working-mom guilt; snakes; heights; waking up early; ignorant people; stomach bugs; paper cuts; green fruit; snoring; bad hair days; the sound of people eating (Misophonia); scary movies; bad drivers; pulpy OJ; trimming baby fingernails; and Miracle Whip. That pretty much sums it up.
