The Big 3-0

While I am not thrilled to now be officially out of my twenties, I couldn't be happier with my life at the moment. I have a sweet baby girl, a loving (and handsome) husband, a wonderful family, fabulous friends, and a great job. I am truly blessed!

I spent a wonderful weekend celebrating this big birthday. Friday night, my Mom and Bonnie watched Ava so Josh and I could enjoy a "staycation" at Hotel Palomar. We had a long dinner at Central 214, which was delicious, and enjoyed lots of fun cocktails (my favorite was the "Ride 'em Cowgirl"). We ordered dessert from room service, had a wonderful night of sleep that was not interrupted by a crying baby, and had breakfast in bed the next morning. It was fabulous!

I didn't manage to get any pictures at dinner, but I did capture the dessert and champagne I enjoyed back in our room :).

Then, we celebrated with a party at our house on Saturday night. We had Mattito's catered, lots of sangria and margaritas on hand, and (of course) some Sprinkle's cupcakes to complete the celebration.

It was so nice having my Mom and Bonnie there to watch Ava.

And I'm glad she got to join the party for a while.

We had lots of friends and family join the festivities as well, including...

The Hubbards

Jill, Mike, and Laura

Russ, Diana, and Steve

Rachel and Jesse

Lewis

Truc

And Tori and Todd (sorry we didn't manage to get a picture of ya'll), Ellie, Kate, and Jack.

I love this picture of Josh and Jack. I promise he was in good hands :).

We had lots of safe and sanitary toys out for our nieces and nephew to play with, including bottle caps, dog bowls, and the doggie door ;).

Grant also loved playing in Stella's dog bed!

Kate was so sweet to "Baby Ava."

She even offered to share her baby dolls.

After the kids left/went to bed, the music was turned up a notch...

And an epic beer pong battle began between team Russ/Lewis and team Josh/Steve. It was quite entertaining to watch.

Here is Lewis convincing Truc that he needed to stay for a best "three out of five" tournament.

Steve was certain his team would prevail.

Especially with the lucky "balls" around his neck.

There was also a lot of mid-game dancing...

And despite a valiant effort from Josh and Steve...

Lewis and Russ pulled out the victory...

The losing team...looking very happy about it.

You know the party was a success when the cupcake plate looked like this at the end of the night.

Thanks so much to everyone who made my 30th birthday so special!

About Me

My name is Catherine, but most of my friends call me Cat. I was born and raised in Austin, went to TCU, and ended up in Dallas for law school (where Josh and I met). I decided that being an attorney was not my cup of tea and pursued a career in legal marketing. I am now a mother of two attempting to balance family with a full-time job, which is always an adventure. I love: my sweet babies, handsome husband, very large family, and fabulous friends; trying new restaurants; wine; TCU football; holidays; cooking; The Bar Method; pajamas; Topo Chico; reading; coffee; Central Market; carbs; the beach; mani/pedis; Anthropologie; binge-worthy TV shows and podcasts; trivia; French 75s; Pinterest; cheese boards; The Ticket; dancing; Sprinkles cupcakes; The Texas Rangers; fresh flowers; thunderstorms; naps; Tex-Mex; the Texas Hill Country; porch-sitting; ranch dressing; throwing parties; and my job. I hate: working-mom guilt; snakes; heights; waking up early; ignorant people; stomach bugs; paper cuts; green fruit; snoring; bad hair days; the sound of people eating (Misophonia); scary movies; bad drivers; pulpy OJ; trimming baby fingernails; and Miracle Whip. That pretty much sums it up.
