New Year's Resolutions

I can't believe it is 2013! It just sounds so futuristic.

I'm sad that we didn't host our yearly New Year's Brunch, but with family in town and multiple Christmas celebrations going on, it was just too much this year. However, Gary and Betsy were kind enough to babysit so Josh and I could attend a New Year's Eve party...and dominate some beer pong.

Anyway, on to the resolutions...

I'm not usually a huge resolution maker (or keeper), but the following are some of my goals for the new year...
  • Learn how to better use my camera (as well as the Photoshop I got for Christmas..what, what!).
  • Stick with the Couch to 5K plan I started, and actually run a 5K.
  • To go with the resolution above, lose those last 10 pounds of baby weight...plus another 10. I know this is super cliche, but it must be done. Seriously.
  • Plan more fun weekend outings for our family.
  • Take a sewing lesson. I would love to be able to make some cute stuff for Ava.
  • Buy a new car. It's time. And I think my Dad and Josh might send me to a shrink if I don't let go of "The Hoe" sometime soon.
  • Take a baby-free vacation.
  • Find a church that we enjoy going to (I am very picky...can't be too conservative, but can't be too modern/cheesy either). Ava needs some Sunday School in her life.
  • Cook more/eat out less. And post more of my favorite recipes on the blog. This means more weekly menu planning to make it happen.
  • Compile and order Ava's blog-based baby book. If I put it off, it will never happen.
  • Read more...in all that free time that I have ;).
  • Drink more water and less wine during the week. Is it bad that this will be the hardest to keep?!
I think that is it. Here's to hoping I accomplish at least a few of these. And here's to a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year for everyone out there!

  1. Wow, that's a bunch of goals! Love them all though -- I will totally take a sewing class with you. I've always wanted to be "adequate" at it. And we are still looking for a church home if you guys want friends to go with!

    1. Ha! Yeah - it is a little ambitious. And I would love a sewing class/church hunting buddy :). Let's discuss on Saturday!

About Me

My name is Catherine, but most of my friends call me Cat. I was born and raised in Austin, went to TCU, and ended up in Dallas for law school (where Josh and I met). I decided that being an attorney was not my cup of tea and pursued a career in legal marketing. I am now a mother of two attempting to balance family with a full-time job, which is always an adventure. I love: my sweet babies, handsome husband, very large family, and fabulous friends; trying new restaurants; wine; TCU football; holidays; cooking; The Bar Method; pajamas; Topo Chico; reading; coffee; Central Market; carbs; the beach; mani/pedis; Anthropologie; binge-worthy TV shows and podcasts; trivia; French 75s; Pinterest; cheese boards; The Ticket; dancing; Sprinkles cupcakes; The Texas Rangers; fresh flowers; thunderstorms; naps; Tex-Mex; the Texas Hill Country; porch-sitting; ranch dressing; throwing parties; and my job. I hate: working-mom guilt; snakes; heights; waking up early; ignorant people; stomach bugs; paper cuts; green fruit; snoring; bad hair days; the sound of people eating (Misophonia); scary movies; bad drivers; pulpy OJ; trimming baby fingernails; and Miracle Whip. That pretty much sums it up.
