The Lot

A couple weekends ago, Hannah and Lily made a last-minute trip over from Fort Worth to see Ava (and me and Josh, but we all know who the main attraction is). With perfect weather that Sunday, I knew it would be the optimal time to check out a place that has been on my list for a while...The Lot

The Lot is an East Dallas restaurant and beer garden located next to White Rock Lake. It is in the space that used to be the Backyard Beach Bar, and the new owners transformed one of the areas into a fabulous kid play area.

And Ava absolutely loved the it! Our only mistake was letting her play before dinner, because then she didn't want to sit down to eat. She kept asking to go back "ow-side."

My adorable sisters who joined us for the fun evening...

Ava loved hanging out with her aunts. And I loved that their presence meant that Josh and I didn't have to get quite as sandy :).

Overall, it was a really cool spot. The food was decent (Hannah's brisket sliders were the best), and the drinks were even better. But it is the atmosphere and family-friendlyness that will bring us back again.

And next time we will make sure to request a table next to the play area, so we can sip cocktails at our table while Ava runs around, as well as bring some sand toys. Rookie mistakes.

About Me

My name is Catherine, but most of my friends call me Cat. I was born and raised in Austin, went to TCU, and ended up in Dallas for law school (where Josh and I met). I decided that being an attorney was not my cup of tea and pursued a career in legal marketing. I am now a mother of two attempting to balance family with a full-time job, which is always an adventure. I love: my sweet babies, handsome husband, very large family, and fabulous friends; trying new restaurants; wine; TCU football; holidays; cooking; The Bar Method; pajamas; Topo Chico; reading; coffee; Central Market; carbs; the beach; mani/pedis; Anthropologie; binge-worthy TV shows and podcasts; trivia; French 75s; Pinterest; cheese boards; The Ticket; dancing; Sprinkles cupcakes; The Texas Rangers; fresh flowers; thunderstorms; naps; Tex-Mex; the Texas Hill Country; porch-sitting; ranch dressing; throwing parties; and my job. I hate: working-mom guilt; snakes; heights; waking up early; ignorant people; stomach bugs; paper cuts; green fruit; snoring; bad hair days; the sound of people eating (Misophonia); scary movies; bad drivers; pulpy OJ; trimming baby fingernails; and Miracle Whip. That pretty much sums it up.
